about

Heard Steve Earle once refer to Texas as "occupied Northern Mexico"... I guess it stayed with me.

lyrics

I live in occupied northern Mexico
I live in a land that was stolen decades ago
They want to build a wall
They're afraid their empire might fall
I live in a land where love just won't grow

She comes from a land where people don't say no
Her daddy drives a truck from Shreveport to Amarillo
She don't talk in a Southern drawl
She's got no friends at City Hall
She lives in a land where love can glow

She takes me in her arms at night
She says all the words that feel so right
Feel so right

Moved South of the border, to Durango
We live in a small house, we live, low and slow
We sit outside and watch our kids kick a ball
We sit outside with not a care, for it all
