about
Yup, another song that came to me via its first line. However, this is the exception to the rule. I normally never go back an finish a song I started, but somehow for this one I did. I didn't like the original melody, so I changed the key and chord structure and try to let the song tell me where it wanted to go. I hope I was a good steward of my song.
lyrics
A Bm
She only stopped shooting cause she thought I was dead
E A
She put two in my heart, shoulda put one in my head
Well it ain’t all that great, no it ain’t all that fun
To be at the smoking end of her gun
She’s an old pistol but she still shoots true
And she knows how to aim, between me and you
So boy you’d better duck, yeah boy you'd better run
If you’re at the smoking end of her gun
She said I can’t believe I’m losing you
Sometimes them cheating songs do come true
How could we be done, oh, how could we be through
When you look at me don’t you like the view?
Where were you when I was down on my knees?
Praying for the Lord to save us, please?
I put in the bullets and the cylinder spun
Now you’re at the smoking end of my gun
Were you out cavorting with what’s her name?
The one who makes you feel like you’ve got game?
One door closes, maybe one will open
When you’re the smoking end of her gun
