His choir of Angels
04:21

HEAVEN ABOVE
Caught between the devil and the deep blue sea
I’m left here longing for my family
Caught between a rock and a hard place
I’m left here longing for your face
And I hear the choir of angels singing ‘bout life eternal in his love
But I’m quite sure they’re sending me below and not up to Heaven above
Caught tween what I should do and what I know I will do in the end
Caught tween the memory of you I’m left here longing for a friend
And I hear the choir of angels singing ‘bout life eternal in his love
But I’m quite sure they’re sending me below and not up to Heaven above
The Book says it’s never too late, find Him and you will change your fate,
Why would you even hesitate
Caught between the courage and my fears what if my prayers fall on deaf ears
Caught between the years I let you down I’m longing for my old hometown
And I hear the choir of angels singing ‘bout life eternal in his love
But I’m quite sure they’re sending me below and not up to Heaven above
Caught between the Father and his love I guess he welcomed me into Heaven above

His Word
03:43
|
|||
Going to church on Sunday morning
Was like wearing too tight a suit
I would listen to the preacher’s warning
Son don’t bite into that fruit
I’d get home round half past noon,
My father would have had a few
Mother would say lunch will be ready soon,
Man I loved that Sunday stew
My father would pour them some wine
And my mother would say when
He would laugh and pour way past the line
I would say grace and then
He would ask me about the Word
To see if I’d paid attention
I would notice that his speech was slurred
But I would not make mention
I’d tell him how the Lord loves us
As imperfect as we are
How salvation is through Jesus
Can’t be found at the local bar
That in the end there’s just one law
Love your neighbor as your own
He would smile but in his eyes I saw
He’d never leave the drink alone
Sometimes we’d go for a ride
in our old family sedan
we’d drive right through the countryside
And I’d listen to my old man
He would sing about the years
before my grandfather was born
Songs of joy and songs of tears
He’d ask me ‘bout that crown of thorns
